The long-anticipated Sewcial Project Runway Kid's Fashion Design & Showcase Program has been drafted and is hitting the Sewcial Sew Haus this Fall!

Fashion students will be creating their own fashion collections and portfolios by curating design boards, conceptualizing unique and cutting edge or story-telling statement pieces, drafting beautiful sketches with design specs, participating in design challenges, working with multiple textiles to incorporate into their designs, and completing their program with a legit artists/design showcase (dress your best/or in your design event!) open to family, friends, and the public for viewing!

Aspiring designers will have a super fun and exciting experience and need no prior experience. Participants should have a drive for exploration, imagination, flexibility, and an eagerness to express themselves through this medium. This program is perfect for our whimsy and imaginative souls who are boundary-less and explorative with their art. Fashion is not serious, and we aren't either - a party in the making!

Students will learn how to use a sewing machine and incorporate skill-appropriate elements into one of their designs for their final show-piece.

The program also includes membership in our weekly exclusive Sew Club ($360 value) where designers can work on their projects for the duration of the program. This will be an intro course in machine safety, sewing machine operation, and the fundamentals of what can be accomplished with imagination and little to no previous sewing experience (or how far we can push design for our more experience sewists). Sew Club will offer our designers even more opportunity to enhance their show-stopping portfolios and final show piece.

Melissa, Owner/Instructor

Mel is a momma of the funniest kid on the planet, and the creative mind of Sewcial. With 30+ years of sewing experience, and a lineage of strong female creatives, she gets her ideas into the world by skill-sharing in a super fun format. Her philosophies in life are "everything is figureoutable" and "If we aren't having fun, what are we even doing?" She's an expert at laughing, planning fun events (a large scale conference planner by trade), installing zippers, and will not hesitate to participate in a knock-knock joke.

Mel also instructs sewing weekly at a local elementary-middle school. She is certified in CPR/AED (Adult/Child/Infant).
