Updated August 2025
At Sewcial, we like to keep things as simple as possible — just like our classes, which are designed for you to show up, learn, and have fun without confusion. Clear policies make it easy for everyone to know what to expect, so we can spend our time focusing on sewing, creating, and enjoying the experience.
These policies are shared via links in several places during the registration process — in class descriptions, on confirmation pages, in emails, in waivers, and on receipts — so that every participant has multiple chances to review them before attending. We’ve found that being this transparent helps everyone feel confident and avoids surprises.
The details below may feel lengthy, but they’re here to protect both our students and our studio. They’ve been carefully written to avoid grey areas, reduce stress, and make sure our time together runs smoothly.
When you sign up for any Sewcial program, event, camp, class, or product, you are agreeing to these policies and the Terms of Service. Please ensure you understand these policies prior to registering for any class, event, camp, or workshop. Exceptions will not be made.
Completion of the Waiver/MOU is mandatory to attend class. Upon enrollment, the confirmation page will read "STOP!" in bold letters encouraging you to read and acknowledge and complete the important text that follows, including the Waiver/MOU.
Students must be at least 8 years old and midway through 3rd grade or higher at the time of participation. Students who have only just entered 3rd grade, or who completed 2nd grade but have not yet reached mid-3rd grade readiness, are not eligible.
In addition to age and grade requirements, all students must be able to participate safely and independently in class activities, follow instructions, and use equipment as directed. Students who are unable to do so — for any reason — may be dismissed without refund or transfer.
Families are encouraged to prepare anxious or uncertain students in advance by reviewing class descriptions together, browsing photos on Sewcial’s website or social media, and discussing what to expect. Please note that non-participation does not qualify for make-ups, refunds, or transfers.
We prioritize the health and safety of our participants and staff. Please adhere to the following guidelines:
If you are showing any symptoms of illness, do not attend class.
If you are unsure, wear a mask.
If anyone in your household has been ill in the past five days or is still symptomatic, take a COVID test before attending and wear a mask regardless of symptoms.
We do not allow students who are sick to attend class. Any student exhibiting symptoms, masked or not, will be sent home without refund, credit, transfer, or make-up.
Illness-related absences are not eligible for refunds, credits, transfers, or make-ups.
Tools and studio safety, and respect for oneself and others in every sense of the way, are addressed at each sewing class, club, party, and private session. Students are reminded of safety and behavior throughout sessions when applicable. Restricted areas of the Sewcial Stitch Lab and the Handcrafted Marketplace are clearly demarcated and will be respected as private areas. Students who do not use discretion or good judgment with themselves or others may receive reminders and sewing safety coaching. Students engaging in unsafe or unkind behavior, or accessing prohibited areas, will be suspended or removed from the class or future clubs and sessions without refund, and will be responsible for the cost of damages and/or replacement.
Doors lock at class start time. Entry later than 5 minutes is not permitted and tuition is forfeited without refund.
Late pickups of children will be charged $1 per minute after 5 minutes of being late. After 10 minutes of being late, the fee is $10 per minute. This is not to be used for leverage. Our instructors have children and obligations themselves, and when you are late, that makes us late for our kids and classes too. Abuse of this policy will result in termination without refund of future enrolled classes or memberships. Unpaid late fees must be cleared before future participation.
No refunds are offered for camps.
Families are expected to commit to the camp schedule at the time of sign-up.
If your child cannot attend, you may request a one-time transfer to another camp date of equal value if space permits (applies to Summer Camps for same year Summer Camps only) and the transfer must be determined within 72 hours in writing. In other words, the camp must be in the same season in the same year. No credit deferments.
Transfer requests must be made at least 21 days before your original camp start date.
If no alternate dates or spaces are available at the time of the request, if you fail to respond, or if the request falls within the 21-day window, tuition is forfeited.
Illness: Students who become sick may return once they are well enough to participate and follow our health guidelines. Illness-related absences are not eligible for refunds, credits, transfers, or make-ups.
No partial credits, refunds, or make-ups are provided for missed camp time or camp days.
Sewcial is an extracurricular program and is not intended to replace essential childcare, regardless of naming convention (i.e., camp, classes, events, clubs, or workshops). By tax code definition, Sewcial's Tax I.D. Number will not be provided for childcare tax purposes.
Receipts are generated automatically at the time of purchase and reflect the total program cost. We do not customize receipts to include camper names, camp dates, or other individualized details. While we understand some families may request this for reimbursement or record-keeping, producing customized receipts requires significant administrative time and would alter our receipt system for all classes and programs. For this reason, only the standard automated receipt will be issued. Families are welcome to print their enrollment confirmation email or class description as supporting documentation.
Girl Scout, Birthday Parties, and private events must be rescheduled within 72- hours of event date to be eligible for an event roll-over. Event deposits are non-refundable and may only be applied to a future date if rescheduled within 72 hours by either party. Unused rollover credits will not be refunded. Refunds, credits, or make-ups for individual attendees who cannot attend will not be issued.
Birthday parties can bring in their own cupcakes, beverages, and snacks, though they will be required to clean up the party. No candles. Tabletop and free-standing decorations are permitted. Set-up will be permitted 15 minutes prior to start time.
Feel free to bring snacks and make yourself comfy. The instructor will exercise discretion when necessary.
Unfortunately, no BYOB to any classes or events unless otherwise posted. We will occasionally announce events that will be properly permitted and responsibly allow us to allow BYOB or serve beer/wine.
Classes (regardless of their naming convention) take immense preparation. Refunds will not be given in any circumstance for any classes, or sewing/crafting events or workshops. No refunds, credits, or make-ups are provided for missed classes, workshops, or events.
Private and club sessions require 48 hour notice to be eligible rescheduling for any reason. Late arrivals for private sessions will conclude at the scheduled time. 20 minutes late results in a forfeiture. No shows will forfeit their session. Sessions are confirmed via email, text reminder, and by logging into the club booking session platform. If Sewcial needs to reschedule at anytime, for any reason, every effort will be made to find a rescheduled date or a class credit will be issued back to your account in addition to a one-week extension of that returned session credit. No refunds, credits, or make-ups will be issued for missed or forfeited sessions.
Please attempt to avoid scheduling appointments that interfere with class or camp time, as there will be no opportunities for make-ups.
Credits are the term used for purchased club and private sessions and are issued at the time of private session and club package purchases. Credits expire 90 days from the date of purchase for Adult's Sew Club, 90 days from the date of purchase for Kid's With Patterns Club, and 120 days for Kids and Littles Sewing Club. Expired credits cannot be extended or refunded under any circumstances.
As a courtesy, any cancellations or notifications must be done in writing via email to sewcialsacramento@gmail.com in advance, so we know not to expect you.
When you register for any class, event, or gathering at Sewcial, you agree to assume all risks associated with participation for yourself, your enrolled student(s), and any guests you bring. This includes risks related to the use of sewing machines, scissors, irons, pins, needles, and other tools and materials present in our studio or at off-site events.
Sewcial is not liable for personal injury, property damage, or the condition or use of personal machines, tools, or belongings—including vehicles and their contents—while on or near studio premises.
Sewcial reserves the right to remove any participant from a program if they are unable or unwilling to participate safely, respectfully, or in a way that supports the flow and well-being of the group. No refunds will be issued in such cases.
By participating, you also acknowledge that Sewcial may take photographs or videos during classes and events for promotional use. All participants (or their adult guardians) may opt out at any time by notifying sewcialsacramento@gmail.com in writing or verbally while in class.
Discounts/coupons cannot be combined and are not valid on existing discounts, reduced rates, pre-registration discounts, pro-rations, or previous sales. Discounts are valid only for the specified time listed in the advertisement. Discounts and credits are not interchangeable between Sewcial and Sewcial's Handcrafted Marketplace.
Sewcial® Gift Cards — How They Work (White-Glove Registration)
What can I use a Sewcial gift card for? Classes, camps, workshops, and in-studio products at the Handcrafted Marketplace.
How do I redeem for a class if I bought the gift card through Sewcial's Handcrafted Marketplace (e-card) or in store (physical card)? We use a White-Glove Registration approach:
Browse the current calendar at sewcial.com.
or call/text (916) 287-1858 with:
• Your gift card number (last 4 digits)
• Your email address
• Student name + age (if applicable)
• The class title and date you want
We’ll book your seat and deduct your balance in Square. You’ll receive a confirmation with any remaining balance.
Can I use my gift card online at checkout? Because we sell classes through a separate system, the smoothest path is our White-Glove Registration. (Think concierge service: we do it for you.) For store items in-studio, just present your card at checkout.
Do gift cards expire? No—Sewcial gift cards have no expiration and no fees.
What if my gift card doesn’t cover the full class price? We’ll apply your gift card first and you can pay the difference with any standard payment method.
What if I have money left over after booking a class? Great! Your remaining balance stays on your gift card for future classes or in-studio shopping.
How do I check my balance? Visit: https://app.squareup.com/gift/ML226G21KNYMR/check-balance
Can I split one gift card across multiple classes or purchases? Yes.
What if I lose my gift card? Email sewcialsacramento@gmail.com
If you have the purchaser’s name, email, approximate date, or the last 4 digits, we can usually locate it.
Refunds & Policies: Gift cards are non-refundable and not redeemable for cash (except where required by law). All class bookings follow Sewcial’s standard scheduling and no-cancellation policies, noted on each class page.

The Handcrafted Marketplace is an entire experience in addition to the Sewcial sewing studio. DIY kits, tools, and supplies are available to inspire. We have a no-refund policy on all merchandise due to the unique nature of the products and their thoughtful handcraftedness by other makers. Marketplace sales are final. No exchanges or credits. If something is terribly amiss, we will surely do what we can to make it right.
