5 Things You Can Do Right Now That You Didn’t Know Your Machine Could Do

A Sewcial Small-Batch Session

Your sewing machine has far more to offer than a straight stitch. Bring your machine—and that mysterious collection of feet and accessories hiding in its storage compartment—for a fast-moving exploration of its built-in features.

In this one-hour pop-up, we’ll explore how to:

  • Create an automatic buttonhole

  • Sew on a button by machine

  • Identify and use stretch-friendly stitches

  • Finish raw edges without a serger

  • Change presser feet and put common specialty feet to work

We’ll also cover how to safely change your sewing-machine needle and help you identify useful settings, stitches and accessories specific to your machine.

Because every sewing machine is different, the exact features explored may vary. Our four-person format gives us time to help each participant discover what their own machine can do. Sewcial machines are available, but bringing your own machine will give you the most personalized experience.

Please Bring

  • Your sewing machine

  • Power cord and foot pedal

  • Your machine manual, if available (we're pretty good at this, but just in case)

  • All presser feet and accessories that came with your machine

If you do NOT have a sewing machine, and would like to use ours, we will provide machines.

Sewcial will provide the fabric, buttons and practice materials.

How Is This Different?

Machine Basics teaches you how to thread, operate and troubleshoot your sewing machine.

Garment Construction Basics teaches construction techniques used to make clothing, including gathering.

My Machine Does THAT?! introduces the specialty stitches, settings and accessories already built into your machine—so you can begin using more of what you already own.

This is a small-class pop-up with only four seats and a limited listing window. Register while it’s here!
