Since 2015, Sewcial® has been turning “I could never do that” into “Wait… I MADE this?!” one class, club, workshop, birthday, and wildly fun creative experience at a time.
What started as a vision to make sewing feel less intimidating — and a whole lot more exciting — has grown into one of Sacramento’s most unique creative community spaces. Today, Sewcial® is known for its beginner-friendly sewing classes, energetic studio vibe, over-delivered experiences, and projects that look impressive long before students realize they’re actually capable of making them.
That transformation is kind of our thing.
At Sewcial®, we believe creativity should feel approachable, social, confidence-building, and FUN. We’ve built a bright, welcoming studio where beginners feel comfortable walking through the door, friendships form naturally around sewing machines, and students leave feeling more capable than when they arrived.
We teach practical sewing and crafting skills through a modern lens — removing the stiffness and gatekeeping that sometimes surrounds traditional sewing spaces. Sewing may be viewed by some as an “old-fashioned” hobby, but we see it differently: it’s a lifelong skill rooted in creativity, problem-solving, confidence, self-expression, patience, and independence.
That’s why Sewcial® has become so much more than sewing.
Over the years, we’ve hosted:
Beginner sewing classes and workshops
Kids’ sewing clubs and camps
Creative crafting events and themed experiences
Scout badge programs and educational partnerships
Fashion and entrepreneurship programs
Community art projects and collaborative events
Confidence-building experiences for thousands of students since 2015
In 2024, Sewcial® expanded even further with the launch of the Handcrafted Marketplace — a curated extension of the classroom experience featuring sewing tools, notions, beginner-friendly supplies, kits, and creative finds designed to keep the inspiration going long after class ends.
Everything we do is rooted in community, encouragement, and helping people surprise themselves.
Our students often arrive nervous, convinced they’re “not creative” or “bad at sewing.” Then something shifts. They relax. They laugh. They make friends. They stay longer than they planned. They come back again and again. Sewcial® becomes part of their routine, their confidence, and sometimes even their identity.
That community piece is our favorite part!
We’re proud to be a female-owned small business, a Sacramento Bee “Best of Sacramento” winner, and a creative home for thousands of students and families throughout the Sacramento region.
Whether you’re here to learn a life skill, make something incredible, meet like-minded people, or simply try something new — we’re really glad you found us.
Welcome to Sewcial®
Sewcial is a play on our favorite things: socializing and sewing!
Noun: Sewcial
Pronounced: So-shul
We start lessons at 8 years of age/ who are also mid-way through the 3rd grade and beyond.
You do not need sewing machine experience to attend. Our intention is to take the fear out of sewing. Sewing is fun and that’s exactly the point of Sewcial®.
Sewcial supplies machines for classes and parties. Students may bring their own known working machine to clubs and private sessions or use a Sewcial provided machine.
Yes! Because classes are carefully designed to maximize time and individualized attention, seating is limited and almost always sell out.
Wear what makes you feel great. Project sewing is generally not too messy of an art form.
Feel free to bring snacks and make yourself comfy. The instructor will exercise discretion when necessary.
Unfortunately, no BYOB to any classes or events unless otherwise posted. We will occasionally announce events that will be properly permitted and responsibly allow us to allow BYOB or serve beer/wine.
Sewcial® class costs vary based on the project type and length of class. Machines, materials, and instruction are provided unless otherwise indicated in the class description.
