Stitch Lab: Machine Basics - December 18, 2025

Feeling curious about sewing but unsure where to start? This beginner-friendly class is designed to introduce you to the sewing machine in a fun and supportive environment. We'll guide you through:

• Understanding machine parts and terminology

• Understanding what is the same and different about digital and manual machines - and why you will be okay sewing on ANY machine

• Threading the machine and winding a bobbin

• Troubleshooting common issues

• Learning Basics Stitch Types and their purpose

• Identifying machine needle types, sizes, and when and how to change your needle

Whether you bring your own machine or use one of ours, you'll leave feeling confident and ready to tackle your first sewing project.

Extra Credit:

Enroll in a Try Sewing class (usually following Machine Basics) to test your new skills and make something fun all in one night to keep your enthusiasm and sewing trajectory going!

Who It’s For:

• Absolute beginners with no prior sewing experience

• Those who have dabbled but want a solid foundation

• Anyone interested in joining any of our classes (this is NOT a pre-requisite. All classes are for the first-timer+)
