In this fur-week lab, you’ll learn how to transform a photo into a textile portrait using layered fabrics, appliqué techniques, and expressive stitching.
You don't have to be an artiste! This is not about perfection—it’s about capturing personality, texture, and those little details that make your pet them.
Dogs, cats, chickens, sea cows… let's do it! If you love it, it belongs here.
This class blends quilting, collage, and creative sewing into one really satisfying process.
By the end, you’ll have a finished mini portrait that can be framed, displayed, or turned into something functional at home.... and then be prepared when you have people asking you to make them one too!
How to translate a photo into fabric shapes
Raw-edge appliqué techniques
Fabric selection for depth and contrast
Intro to free-motion quilting time pending (optional, beginner-friendly)
How to add detail and personality through stitching
Finishing techniques for display
You'll also learn some really cool techniques and use some new materials to make the process so much fun!
We’ll send a simple materials list ahead of time so you feel fully prepared—nothing overwhelming. We'll also be supplying just so many materials, tools, and notions, so you won't have to do anything but show up.
No drawing or artistic background needed
Your project will be uniquely yours—no two portraits will look the same
You may want a little at-home time between sessions if you love getting into the details
