Hem Your Pants is a focused, hands-on session where we take everything you’ve learned and actually put it into motion—on real garments, with real results.
No overthinking.
No “I’ll get to it someday.”
We’re getting it done.
In this workshop, you’ll learn and practice simple, reliable hemming methods that you can repeat at home with confidence.
You’ll work on your own garment while Sewcial instructors guide you through:
• measuring and marking your hem
• pinning and prepping properly
• pressing for clean results
• sewing a clean, straight hem
• choosing the right hemming method for your fabric
You’ll leave with:
✔ at least one hem completed (or well underway)
✔ the confidence to hem future similar garments on your own
✔ a clear understanding of what works—and why
Bring 1–2 pairs of pants that need hemming.
Great options include:
• jeans
• unlined trousers with simple hems (non-cuffed)
• casual pants
• wide-leg or straight-leg styles
We’re keeping this workshop focused so you can build strong fundamentals.
This means we will not be working on:
• lined garments
• original hem preservation (Euro hems)
•Stretch wear - hold of on those Lululemons until you get these basics
• tapering or reshaping
• complex alterations
We’re building your base skills so you can confidently grow into those next steps in future Alterations Lab workshops.
To join this workshop, you must have completed:
• Try Sewing
AND
• Alterations Lab (or similar experience)
This ensures you’re ready to jump right in and make the most of your time.
This workshop is perfect for students who:
• took Alterations Basics and want real practice
• have pants sitting in a “fix it later” pile
• want a quick, satisfying win
• are ready to build confidence with simple alterations
• Sewing machines and tools provided
• Instructors available for hands-on guidance
• Supplies and tools available in the Handcrafted Marketplace to continue at home
